What is Alcalá Artesano?

Alcalá Artesano is an initiative of the Town Hall Alcalá del Júcar and AMATA (Association for the Improvement of Traditional and Modern Crafts).

The project will consist of a set of workshops of authentic artisans, scattered throughout the old town of Alcalá del Júcar and open to the public, combined with cultural, educational and creative activities.  The main objectives of the project are:

  • Promote crafts ib¡n general and the work of the artisans

  • Give more life to the old town of Alcalá del Júcar

  • Add another attraction to the tourist offer of the village

We are actually working towards the opening of the first workshops and the information centre, hoping to increase the number steadily over the years.  In the information center information sheets in several languages will be available, with the location and opening hours of all workshops and shops. The route to visit them will be clearly indicated.  In addition, guided tours will be organized on weekends, long weekends and holidays.

The artisans who participate in this project will live and work in Alcalá, and apart from demonstrating their crafts and selling their work, can give courses and workshops.  In addition, special meetings, contests, concerts and sports and gastronomic activities will be organised.
